Description:
This 1971 Adler Gabriele 35 (serial number 4689902) is not something I was looking for. A colleague of mine, who learned of my typewriter obsession, told me that he got a typewriter. It turned out to be this Gabriele. It was a bit dusty and the lower half of the plastic body has some discolouration but it types quite nicely with a small typeface, and it is actually not too loud, unlike other late typewriters (thinking of my grandfather's Brother De Luxe or my mother's Scheidegger Typomatic TMS). It won't become my favourite typewriter and probably not even be high up on my list but it is a solid typewriter that I don't want to miss.
Postscript: I have to rescind my earlier statement: this Gabriele 35 has become one of my favourite typewriters. It's typing action and feel is just amazing and I totally love the Shadow Imperial typeface which is in Elite.

I'm a typewriter collector from Germany and interested in various kinds of brands and types from pre- and post-WW2, particularly focusing on Seidel & Naumann (Ideal & Erika), Triumph-Adler and Smith-Corona (my favourite brand!), although I own some other brands and am looking at some others (Underwood, Remington). I particularly like portables, my favourite pre-WW2 typewriter being the Erika 5 and my favourite post-WW2 typewriter being my Smith-Corona Silent-Super.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Adler Gabriele 35 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Adler Serial Number page and the Adler Gabriele 35 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
