Description:
New in the catalog for 1970. The PCR 10 is in the 69 catalog. These are JC Penney's version of the Smith Corona Electra 220. Following SC's typical pattern, the dealers get the new models (210/220) for a few years before they are rebadged for the department stores. In 73 they rolled out a newspaper campaign.
The gallery has some PCR 12s misidentified as 60's models.
If the SN sequence follows the typical pattern, this is a 70 model
This one saw some heavy-handed use. The tab mechanism was jacked up and they were pounding on the set and clear keys. The tab tower is a tough adjustment once things get bent.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Penncrest (SCM) Concord PCR 12 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Penncrest (SCM) Serial Number page and the Penncrest (SCM) Concord PCR 12 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
