1970 Montgomery Ward Signature 510D Serial # F0686152 1970 Montgomery Ward Signature 510D typewriter, Serial # F0686152 Daniel Deary's 1970 Montgomery Ward Signature 510D typewriter. 2023-10-06 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Daniel Deary: 1970 Montgomery Ward Signature 510D Serial # F0686152 A Brother JP-3 variant. Acquired from SGW for a cheap price but it came with the rare Dial-A-Type cylinder on the + and = key (Mathematical in this case). Not sure how practical this is, as it seems for lengthy typing switching symbols would be tedious and would certainly interrupt the flow of typing. I think it is more of a novelty item for occasional use and I suspect most would just leave the setting on the + and = key. It is plastic and strangely it does not type much different than the other keys. The typewriter itself is heavy and very robust...typing touch is on the heavy side . This model has no paper injector or plastic card guides. Has a plainer looking carriage return lever, not chromed. Carrying case was damaged in the past...I bought it knowing this and crossed my fingers that there would be no damage to the typewriter...I was lucky. These plastic cases become very brittle with age.

Retired. Have been a Photography geek for many years...old school film. Also have been an audiophile and have been collecting vinyl before it became fashionable. Accidently(?) began collecting typewriters in the early1980's...I had four by 2006. After I inherited my mothers Hermes 3000 in 2017 my interest really took off and now I have 28 typewriters in total. The majority of my collection are Smith Corona's largely because they are plentiful, easy to work on and are very good typers.
