1970 IBM Selectric I Serial # 92 3028439 1970 IBM Selectric I typewriter, Serial # 92 3028439 Uwe Wachtendorf's 1970 IBM Selectric I typewriter. 2018-01-01 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Uwe Wachtendorf: 1970 IBM Selectric I Serial # 92 3028439 A scary Selectric (model 72). This Value Village rescue could sure use a few days at the spa.

The Darth Vader black IBM might not look like much, but it is entertaining. Full of office flotsam like spent staples and eraser shavings, this typer has seen some serious action; just how much grease do you need for a ribbon cover pivot bar anyway (see photo)? And you just have to smile at the engineering in this thing. In one tiny area alone there are five adjustment points.. I'm going to have some real fun restoring this one.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the IBM Selectric I on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the IBM Serial Number page and the IBM Selectric I By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
