Description:
This typewriter is a wonderful machine, and I quite enjoy using it. It comes in "Stardust Blue". It might be one of my favorite to write letters on in my entire collection (better than my Hermes 3000 and Olivetti Lexikon. 80, for example). The keys are crisp and type with a certain excitement, nothing feeling sluggish. All of the mechanisms in this typewriter work as expected, although a similar Smith Corona Galaxie I own is in slightly worse condition. This typewriter came in the original case with a drawer handle bolted on in space of the original- I may try and restore it at some point.
The machine feels well made. The keys feel solid, the bell sounds good. One of my favorite parts is the sliding front cover. To access the typewriter ribbon and type bars, the cover slides and tilts towards the user. This is unnecessary, but provides a level of class that elevates the experience.
If I could only keep one typewriter for writing letters, this very well could be the one.
