Description:
I purchased this Singer T-70 in June 2016, private sale off Kijiji for $10.
After a bit of cleaning and lubrication it works extremely well. I contacted Singer for any history but they were not able help as they have not sold typewriters for decades however they said that the typewriters they did sell were all manufactured by The Royal Typewriter Co. The Singer T-series typewriters are identical to the Royal Safari which were manufactured from 1964 to 1966, assuming that the T-series were in the same batches then the serial number falls into 1966 run minus the two letter prefix.
Pros
-good key action
-all functions work as required
-easy to use margin and column controls
-the front clear plastic paper guide very convenient for aligning the paper, easy to see scale across the width of the sheet as well as handy holes for placing a pen or pencil tip in to and draw straight vertical or horizontal lines.
Cons
-there is no paper support at the back of the carriage to prevent the sheet from dragging across the table setting.
-there is no bail above the platen roller for added paper support, makes it touchy to keep the sheet straight when nearing the bottom.
-the number keys are directly under the top edge of the keyboard housing, just a little tight when typing up there.
