196X Remington Streamliner Serial # AX 167489 196X Remington Streamliner typewriter, Serial # AX 167489 Chris Aldrich's 196X Remington Streamliner typewriter. 2024-03-27 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Chris Aldrich: 196X Remington Streamliner Serial # AX 167489 I picked this up for a song, and in excellent condition. The "L" was sticking a bit, but it took almost no work or even cleaning to remedy it. The best part is that the color is nearly a perfect match for the mint green color of my TWSBI Eco T fountain pen and my General Fireproofing steel desk. Based on serial numbers in the database, it's likely a late 60s model. With the prefix AX, it may be one of the earliest versions of this model that went into the early 70s. Sadly the plastic case was nearly destroyed during shipping.

Hello! I’m a Johns Hopkins trained biomedical and electrical engineer with a variety of interests in the entertainment industry, information theory, evolution, big history, genetics, signal processing, transgenetics, translational medicine, and theoretical mathematics. I’m a strong advocate of the IndieWeb movement.

I have a love for analog office equipment including library card catalogs and typewriters. As of Summer 2024, I've got a segment of 13 typewriters, mostly portable and all manual. I'm working may way into trying out some standards soon and have been learning how to completely overhaul all of the machines in my collection, all of which work well aside from one machine which needs some parts. I've got more than half a dozen card catalogs including a Gaylord Bros. and a Steelcase along with several Remington Rand and some Shaw-Walkers. I've lost count of my index card collection once I passed 10,000.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Streamliner on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Streamliner By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
