Description:
Bought this off the internet mainly because I wanted a cursive font machine in my collection. It arrived slightly damaged with the bottom front bottom plastic rail broken. Also, the carriage inexplicably advances an extra space at a few locations as shown in typeface sample so not my favorite machine to use. It’s a snappy little machine though and the only Remington I have.

I grew up with a fascination and deep appreciation for mechanical business machines. Mid-century typewriters, cash registers and adding machines. To appreciate the magic of these devices and the synergy of gears, springs and levers working together in perfect harmony is quite beautiful and an understated marvel of engineering and quality workmanship that has produced products that work exactly as intended for decades and even a century after they were produced. This is something that doesn’t exist in today’s world. My small collection (currently 19) consists of mainly portables, ultra-portables and a few Smith Corona 6 series electrics, which I use for amateur writing projects.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Personal-Riter on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Personal-Riter By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
