196X Olivetti Lettera 22 Serial # 1401726 196X Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter, Serial # 1401726 Wm Brandon's 196X Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter. 2018-03-18 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Wm Brandon: 196X Olivetti Lettera 22 Serial # 1401726 Machine is superb condition, very clean, and case is is excellent shape (the final teeth on the zipper are bent).

UPDATE: I followed the 1962 Service Manual's instructions for building the ribbon drive and reset the floating reverse mechanism. After trial and error, and once everything lined up correctly, the ribbon began advancing. Unfortunately, it still sticks periodically (unfortunately not in the same place) and I have to manually advance the ribbon as the type begins to lighten.

I attempted to set the floating reverse mechanism permanently, preventing it from moving and misaligning the gear teeth, but that caused a new set of problems, so I wouldn't suggest it.

============
The ribbon spool system needs some attention. The "float" of the reversing mechanism needs to be adjusted - neither side fits properly to turn spool gears, thus the ribbon stops advancing mid-platen.

Im an amateur, this is the first time I've gummed up the courage to remove the case and work on it. I've made adjustments and referenced the Lettera 1962 Service Manual.

I've successfully made adjustments, but the movement of the machine as it types pushes the gears away from the teeth, regardless of how I adjust the settings.

Might need a new spring on the reversing arm.
