Description:
The light, sculptural lines of this Brother Echelon are hard to ignore. Quite fetching, especially with the monochrome grey. Without a doubt, made in Japan. It's got an extra springiness to its typing action. This is a variant from the UK.
This Brother is now in use at Ryan Adney's Classroom Typewriter Project.

In a parallel universe, I was once the Senior Vice-President of Design (Typewriter Division) at Ing. C. Olivetti & C.,S.p.A., Ivrea, Italy. In the real universe, I'm a Chicago-based casual collector and hunter of Olivetti typewriters, and related ephemera, publications, and film sightings.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother Echelon on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother Echelon By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
