1968 Brother Profile 710 Serial # J8123857 1968 Brother Profile 710 typewriter, Serial # J8123857 Julian Zadorozny's 1968 Brother Profile 710 typewriter. 2024-09-12 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Julian Zadorozny: 1968 Brother Profile 710 Serial # J8123857 This grey 1968 Brother Profile 710 was purchased for $20 CDN from my neighbour. We had a type-in at my coffee shop and she wandered in, looking around, and asked if I wanted to see her own typewriter. She carried in a dusty machine that had sat in her basement for a decade or more. Opening the case the great surprise had my eyes widen. My neighbour took great care of this machine. She asked if I wanted to buy it, so I did.

My love for Brother typewriters is all true. My ’69 Pro-Line 707 still brings me great pleasure. I owned a ’71 Webster for a short while before gifting it to an aspiring writer. This Profile is now in the hands of a good friend and published author.

One day I’ll keep more than one Brother typewriter, but they’re fantastic machines. They can take a lot of abuse, and other writers deserve to use them. The carriage moves smooth as silk. Typing is quick and seamless. A marvelous piece of Japanese engineering.

I purchased my first typewriter in 2000: Brother Pro-Line 707 built in 1969.
I wrote eight hours a day, seven days a week on that tiny machine. I wrote my first unpublished novel and hundreds of short stories on the Brother.
In 2020 I decided to purchase my second typewriter. At ten and counting, I still use and collect these amazing tools for writing.
