1968 Brother Echelon 88 Serial # G8886838 1968 Brother Echelon 88 typewriter, Serial # G8886838 Stephen Hanafin's 1968 Brother Echelon 88 typewriter. 2021-03-03 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Stephen Hanafin: 1968 Brother Echelon 88 Serial # G8886838 A Brother JP-1 variant, that appears to have been originally sold in the US by Montgomery Ward stores. As best I can tell this is one of the second generation JP1 typewriters - it has white keys, grey metal shell, matches everything I can see to be one of those, EXCEPT that it appears to have a 1980s-era Brother logo on it. Weird?
