Description:
When I bought this at a thrift store, I already had one - and I thought mistakenly that they were common, and gave the other one to a playwright friend of mine in Montreal. (Later I will take photos to put it on the database) ... it was only later that I realized there are no other manual Viking DeLuxe 12's on TWDB. So here it is.
This machine had quite a bit of damage to the case, and to the outside of the machine. It had been left in a damp environment, and the paint and metal was pitted. I stripped it, and chose a lighter blue which I'm still not sure about. Still, it cleaned up real nice, and it's a very solid typewriter. The mechanism is flawless.

I have been collecting typewriters all my life, starting with a 1980's Brother Charger 11 (which I no longer have, but have replaced with an identical machine). I have well over 60 typewriters now, with a few rare portables. Some are interesting or odd, but most of mine are common machines.
My wife and I have made a deal, that I can keep buying typewriters if she can keep buying shoes. Fair enough! *shrugs*
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Eaton's (Smith-Corona) Viking DeLuxe 12 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Eaton's (Smith-Corona) Serial Number page and the Eaton's (Smith-Corona) Viking DeLuxe 12 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
