Description:
August 1967 build if I correctly understand the Brother serial number system.
An acquaintance who understands my obsession with typewriters found this Charger in the scrap metal pile at the dump. I was happy to give her $10 for the machine as I've been looking for a parts donor for a Fleetwood that I'm trying to resurrect. Unfortunately, the Charger is in perfect mechanical condition and types like a champ, so I can't in good conscience tear it apart. And I'm not even sure that I want to mess with its cosmetic appearance; there should be something left to remind me that it was a dump diver's find.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother Charger 870 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother Charger 870 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
