Description:
This machine was in a rough cosmetic condition when I got it, with:
- paint or whiteout splashes over the keyboard and front of the machine
- paint has chips and scuffs
- broken paper injector handle
- broken right margin stop button
- broken color selector button
- missing paper support
- missing carriage return lever cover and screw
I cleaned the machine (see the "Restoration in progress" photo album) and although some plastic parts are broken the machine works perfectly well! It types very cleanly and smoothly.
This machine has a "UCLA" stamp on its back.
2022-11-06: The machines weighs 35 lbs.
2023-11-29 : Sold.

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1880s to the 1980s. As of 2024, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, a few standard electrics, and some unusual machines like Varitypers, uncommon IBM machines, and more. I am not a pro restorer, but I have restored a few of my machines beyond simple cleaning.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SG3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SG3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
