Description:
Late 5AX model, probably made in 1966 or even 1967, offered to "Miche" by her Aunt Georgette, as a university graduation gift in 1967 in recognition of outstanding grades, as written in a graduation card found with the typewriter. This aunt must have been very dear to young "Miche" for her to have kept the card inside the case.
This Starmist blue machine and the user instruction sheet in colour are in pristine condition. Originally purchased (priced at Cdn$127.50) at the Eaton's store in Montréal.
The saleman's business card is stapled to the instruction sheet.
The typeface is Elite and the keyboard layout is Qwerty Canadian bilingual. It works perfectly and was extremely clean.

Bonjour! I am from the region of Montreal, Quebec and moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1992.
Amateur watchmaker and machinist, I love anything mechanical, hydraulic or electric. I have restored American and Canadian clocks and small lathes, milling machines and a jig bore.
Most of my typewriters have French Canadian QWERTY keyboards, with some exception for rare finds.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Eaton's (Smith-Corona) Viking De Luxe on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Eaton's (Smith-Corona) Serial Number page and the Eaton's (Smith-Corona) Viking De Luxe By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
