1965 Underwood Forum Serial # E13-9694064 1965 Underwood Forum typewriter, Serial # E13-9694064 Erik Bruchez's 1965 Underwood Forum typewriter. 2018-07-27 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Erik Bruchez: 1965 Underwood Forum Serial # E13-9694064 This is the first Underwood Forum in the Typewriter Database,

This machine doesn't work currently. The motor hums but I am not sure it rotates properly. There is a broken belt.

It has a standard ribbon installed but also takes carbon ribbons.

It has a cousin, the Underwood Raphael, which is a nice and rare proportional typewriter.

I believe that the serial places it at 1965.

These are quick pictures taken just after I received the machine.

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1890s to the 1980s. As of 2020, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, and a few standard electrics.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood Forum on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood Forum By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
