Description:
Alpine Blue. A rare classic indeed with the ribbon cover of a 5A Sterling and the components of a 5AX Sterling. I've seen 5AX Classics and even a "Riviera" but this is the fist 5X sterling with a Stencilled SCM logo and the rounded cover of the original 5 series without the "billboard" grill of the 5AX. Neat. Classic/Sterling in every other way. Elite 12cpi,

A lover of the written word, I was bitten by the typewriter bug at the beginning of 2019 when I embarked on a Joyful Odyssey to track down a vintage Olympia SM 7/8/9, (I didn't know the model number at the time) that my mother had owned and which I had used to type my college applications in the late 1980's. I have acquired quite a number since, and have enjoyed learning about the history, mechanics, and true variety of these machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Classic on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Classic By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
