1964 Smith Corona Classic 12 Serial # 6LTV 138969 1964 Smith Corona Classic 12 typewriter, Serial # 6LTV 138969 Sebastian Kleinschmidt's 1964 Smith Corona Classic 12 typewriter. 2021-02-18 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Sebastian Kleinschmidt: 1964 Smith Corona Classic 12 Serial # 6LTV 138969 This Smith-Corona Classic 12 from 1964 (serial number 6LTV 138969) came to me as a surprise and it is still a mystery why I got it - but I'm glad that I have it! I already love my Silent-Super and my Standard 3C (two of my favourite typewriters) and this Classic 12 can definitely hold it's own in that company. Great workhorse.

I had to repair a few things (the type bar link for the letter 'i' was detached, the ribbon vibrator got stuck when used, the automatic ribbon reverse and the power space were both not working, the tab button and space bar stuck too low) and deep clean it but it didn't take me too long and it is in great working order now. It might have some aesthetic blemishes but it types easily, has a snappy typing action and the power space function is just a delight - it would just be better if the platen were not that rock hard.

I'm a typewriter collector from Germany and interested in various kinds of brands and types from pre- and post-WW2, particularly focusing on Seidel & Naumann (Ideal & Erika), Triumph-Adler and Smith-Corona (my favourite brand!), although I own some other brands and am looking at some others (Underwood, Remington). I particularly like portables, my favourite pre-WW2 typewriter being the Erika 5 and my favourite post-WW2 typewriter being my Smith-Corona Silent-Super.
