Description:
Purchased from Re-Store for $8. Needed some cleanup; new belts; new ribbon; adjustments to space bar, but otherwise in excellent working condition. Am still dealing with a line-feed problem: the platen occasionally gets loose from the left-end ratcheting assembly and stops the line-feed. Still trying to figure out what the problem is. Trying to make it a daily driver.

Took a touch-typing class in the mid-1970s (8th grade?) and it was one of the best things I ever did. By the early 1980s, I was completely onto the Macintosh ecosystem and didn't use a typewriter for the next 40 years. But my keyboarding/typing skills were excellent-- but just using a computer. On a whim, bought a SCM250 from a thrift store in late 2024. I cleaned it and fixed some basic issues. Since then I do a variety of things with it-- pretty much anything I can think of.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona 250 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona 250 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
