Description:
The Quiet-Riter moves to the UK and gets a groovy update for the 60s. A new body, paper guide, tab brake, modified carriage lock, and a fancy soft case round out the changes. The frame is now aluminum, and that big steel cross member is gone.
This one was pretty clean. The rack needed a tweak to eliminate some drag on the right side. I'd say it took a bump somewhere in the past. The tab brake needs some spacer adjustment or maybe an improvised friction padding to work properly. Still good rubber, and these things are just bulletproof.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Fleetwing on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Fleetwing By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
