Description:
This Ukrainian Cyrillic typewriter was manufactured in East Germany by the Aztec Company. The serial number suggests a manufacturing date between 1961-1964, but original documentation indicates that it was sold as new in 1971 by the All Languages Typewriter Company of New York. This machine was purchased by one "J. Teodorowych" who might be John Teodorovich, Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the US. If so, he bought this typewriter early (February) in the year of his death.
This machine is built like a soviet-era tank and still types like the day it was built.. The only flaw is a broken/missing platen knob on the left side.
I have the original receipts (from 1971), owners' manual, cleaning kit, and a pristine, vinyl typewriter cover, branded with All Languages Typewriter Co.

I live in San Francisco and I love Olivetti and Olympia typewriters. I collect and use both English and Russian (Cyillic) models.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Aztec (Erika) 14 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Aztec (Erika) Serial Number page and the Aztec (Erika) 14 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
