Description:
I found this Aztec 14 at an estate sale. The case says "Made in Germany (USSR occupied)," which can also be seen (faintly) on the back of the typewriter. I am not sure why, and for how long, products made in the GDR said "USSR occupied." The first serial number for this model, according to the database, should be 2200001, from 1963. This typewriter's serial number is an earlier one. I can only assume that the East Germans were less methodical keeping track of typewriters manufacture than of political dissidents.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Aztec (Erika) 14 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Aztec (Erika) Serial Number page and the Aztec (Erika) 14 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
