Description:
An Underwood-Olivetti Lettera 22. I believe the same as all the model Lettera 22, aside from maybe some cosmetic differences, and the zero key opposed to having to use the upper case 'o' for zero that the earlier models had (I believe, feel free to correct me).
The Underwood-Olivetti models, opposed to Olivetti-Underwood, ran for a couple years in the early sixties, as fellow typewriter hunter, Ted Munk, pointed out to me, allowing me to put a more exact date, 1962, on this machine.
I've only owned a couple typewriters, but I keep coming back to this machine. It has become my favorite to type on, and has gone through well over a hundred pages without a hint of fatigue. Maybe that is because it was the first I owned, but it will be hard to replace it has my favorite to type on.

A writer and beginner collector/restorer of typewriters. I'd always written a few pages a day, been sort of a habit for a number of years now, and I saw a few typewriters in movies and loved the sound they made, so I decided to buy one to see what it was like.
Ended up with a Olivetti Lettera 22, and after writing about a hundred pages with it, I was hooked.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Lettera 22 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Lettera 22 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
