Description:
Raise your hand if you have one of these. That's what I thought. Personally, I have a love/hate relationship with the 3000; I love its design and type action, but hate working on the thing. The ribbon system and its numerous pulleys and springs that are used to indicate the location of the margin stops is just one example of how over-engineered this typewriter is. There's no arguing its brilliance and relevance in the history of typewriters, but it's also a prime example of why the less-is-more design philosophy exists.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Hermes 3000 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Hermes Serial Number page and the Hermes 3000 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
