Description:
I got this Adler Record with two other typewriters from my girlfriend's grandmother (12/31/2020). It was relatively dirty but already in great working condition. I cleaned it properly and now it is a really great standard (?) typewriter. It still has some paint issues and a crack in the ribbon cover but those are just aesthetics. The missing paper holder is a pity but I can make do without one. Everything else works great and it has a nice, easy-flowing typing action, soft and crisp. And I like it that it has a basket shift, which my only other well-working standard typewriter (my Ideal DZ33) doesn't have. It's just a tad loud.
I can totally recommend it to anyone looking for a workhorse.

I'm a typewriter collector from Germany and interested in various kinds of brands and types from pre- and post-WW2, particularly focusing on Seidel & Naumann (Ideal & Erika), Triumph-Adler and Smith-Corona (my favourite brand!), although I own some other brands and am looking at some others (Underwood, Remington). I particularly like portables, my favourite pre-WW2 typewriter being the Erika 5 and my favourite post-WW2 typewriter being my Smith-Corona Silent-Super.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Adler Record on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Adler Serial Number page and the Adler Record By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
