1961 Smith Corona Skywriter

Partial Working Condition. I haven't been able to fully clean/repair this machine however, I was able to make it work. It interestingly isn't as smooth as its counterpart which is 8 years older (maybe because it comes in a leather case instead of its own). I do like it aesthetically and hope to be able to make it flow more smoothly in time. Also, there's a unique issue with the platen where the rubber is slightly distended from the roller itself which makes it have a bounce when typing.

Though I have had a love for typewriters since I was a kid (in the 90's) I didn't start collecting in earnest until 2020 (having had 3 typewriters still in my posession and several long gone). Since then, I have become an avid collector, focusing primarily on fully functional manual typewriters. After collecting more than 30, I determined that my favorite Brand overall is Smith Corona and I attempt to hone my collection in that direction. Here's the preservation of one of the best storytellers we've ever known!!
