1961 Hermes Baby Serial # 5875948 1961 Hermes Baby typewriter, Serial # 5875948 Erik Bruchez's 1961 Hermes Baby typewriter. 2024-04-03 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Erik Bruchez: 1961 Hermes Baby Serial # 5875948 Swiss-French QWERTZ keyboard.

- 2019-06: This Baby works but is not cleaned yet. The body has some scuffs. It is missing the right-hand platen knob.
- 2021-08: The machine is now super clean and complete with a new right-hand platen knob! I replaced the feet with new rubber washers and did a couple of adjustments to the "wings" and left ribbon spool flat spring. I added pictures of the cleaned machine as well as the cleaned case and added a typeface sample. More details in the blog post linked.
- 2022-08: new platen

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1880s to the 1980s. As of 2024, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, a few standard electrics, and some unusual machines like Varitypers, uncommon IBM machines, and more. I am not a pro restorer, but I have restored a few of my machines beyond simple cleaning.
