Description:
#490
Not a big fan of the extended carriage, but it seems like workhorse... It seems every time I find/acquire an RC Allen, the carriage gets wider. This one is 16 inches.
Going to clean the type to get a better sample...

In my spare time I own and operate an equal opportunity rescue shelter for all makes and models of typewriters that have been abandoned in the bottoms of closets.
No matter how many typewriters I am fortunate to be able to collect, my collection will not be as nice as Herman's...
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the R.C. Allen VisOmatic A on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the R.C. Allen Serial Number page and the R.C. Allen VisOmatic A By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
