Description:
This is a typewriter from VEB Optima BĂźromaschinenwerk of Erfurt, model âBambinoâ, from 1950s.
It comes in his case with handle.
You see it doesnât have the keyboard.
The model name in Italian means child, and according to the name, it could be a toy typewriter.
In fact many colour were available, this one is green.
Itâs very similar to the Frolio typewriter from 1920s years, or the Gunka typewriter, still from 1920s.
Itâs very simple to use.
With the pointer you select a letter.
When you select the letter, the typing ball rubs against the ink roller.
By default you print minuscule.
With the red button you print the red letters, numbers and symbols.
With the green button you print the majuscules.
You can use the black button as spacer, or to move the carriage.

I inherited a collection of around 400 old typewriters and calculators from my father, who collected them for 50 years.
I also have a YouTube channel featuring these typewriters.
The pictures are made by my wife who is a photographer. Her name is Milena.
This gallery is managed by her,
So if you like the pictures don't thank me but her.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Optima Bambino on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Optima Serial Number page and the Optima Bambino By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
