Description:
This typewriter has quite a number of issues, I'm starting to regret purchasing it. I cannot even find the serial number. I think it it is at the bottom of the machine but I dare not remove the wooden platform it is screwed on because there so much rusting on the screws. I cannot even find any slot where I can insert the tip of a screw driver to unscrew them. Sheeesh!

I'm an archaeologist who writes heritage books and collects Japanese ceramics as well as quite a number of typewriters that I've acquired through purchase or as gifts over the last 10 years in the Philippines as well as in the US and Japan.
I'm currently a visiting professor at a university in Japan and it is heaven here to see so many typewriters being auctioned online!
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Erika 8 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Erika Serial Number page and the Erika 8 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
