Description:
Today's ShopGoodwill acquisition. This thing was FILTHY and it still is inside - but it works! Even the carbon ribbon that came with it works. So I cleaned up the exterior, fixed the loose flap levers on the front for the ribbon and tabs (the brackets seem to have bent and one end of each was loose, easy fix) and here you see it! This was supposed to be a parts machine but I guess not now! :D Oh darn, another IBM Standard to go with the other 10 or so IBM standards (yes I have a lot of stuff to post here). I love these machines, they're huge but they type so well when cleaned up (especially with the carbon ribbon).
One interesting thing - I have around 10 various model IBM Standards, Executive and regular ones, and this is the only one with a detachable power cable. I can only assume it was a custom item when you ordered your machine(s). It's a proprietary plug and socket, glad I don't have to find one for it!

New collector with a penchant for offbeat models/brands and, conversely, the mundane models many overlook, if I have a personal connection or just find them interesting. Finding that collecting typewriters is like eating potato chips, you can't have just one! Also restorer of mechanical calcs, Vintage audio, and vintage computers.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the IBM Model C on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the IBM Serial Number page and the IBM Model C By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
