Description:
With a face that only a mother could love, the FP was apparently the first Royal produced which allowed consumers to choose from six colour options. I believe this typewriter was painted in the Sandstone Smooth (TUP-45) with Pearl Dark Grey Smooth (TUP-1) paint scheme.
Aesthetically it's a little rough around the edges, but it types well and is a pleasing machine to use. In fact, I've grown so fond of this big Royal that I plan to give it a well-deserved overhaul and repaint.
One quirk of this particular FP is the stamping error made in the serial number (see photo). Your guess is as good as mine as to whether it should be a 1 or a 0. The serial number does however tell you that it has an 11 inch carriage and is equipped with a pica typeset.
The FP's best feature? The bold red Royal badge above the keyboard that doubles as a ribbon cover release button; it's a simple thing, but then again I'm a simple person.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal FP on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal FP By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
