1958 Olympia SG1 Serial # 7-376141 1958 Olympia SG1 typewriter, Serial # 7-376141 Sid and Roxy's 1958 Olympia SG1 typewriter. 2020-04-10 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Sid and Roxy: 1958 Olympia SG1 Serial # 7-376141 We found this at a vintage shop in Minneapolis. It had a price tag of $149, there foam insulation was coming off and there was a little surface rust and so I went to ask the store owner about it. He told me that it had been sitting down there for 6 months without anyone asking about it or looking at it and told me I could have it for $40. Needless to say we ended up buying our biggest and heaviest typewriter to date (I've hear Olivetti Lexicons are heavier, WOW). However, this is a standard machine and it is suppose to be put in one place and left there. Plus it has so many awesome features and types so well, why wouldn't you want it out all the time? The other cool thing about this typewriter is that the typeface is italic. We paired it with a green ribbon and it is my go to machine for correspondence.
