Description:
This is my first Lettera 22. It's impossible not to come across its name while reading up on typewriters. Maybe it was inevitable that I would buy one. This was a quick purchase online. Looking at it on screen, I failed to realize what was very apparent in person: the paper plate was taupe and the body was blue. At first, I thought these might not be original parts, but the front reads "Made in Great Britain" just like the back. Then I came across Robert Messenger's blog post stating that owners would send their typewriters in for servicing and have the dealer repaint the body. I immediately flipped over the ribbon cover, and, sure enough - remnants of taupe underneath. Mystery solved. Fortunately, this was kept in storage well. Unfortunately, the return lever did not survive shipping. I like the quick, light strikes Olivetti provides. I also like the typeface. Not sure if it's called Imperial or Victoria. Reminds me of Olympia's Congress. Now to find a 32.
