Description:
Was looking for a solid Smith Corona to add to the collection, and for some reason the Sears Towers looked more attractive to me. This is effectively a Sterling, but with a cooler sounding name. Snagged this one off of GoodwillFinds for a reasonable price and gave it the full treatment. Cleaned, oiled, tweaked and all the rest. Added a new JJ Short platen courtesy of TB Writers Plus who happened to have a spare on hand to sell me. Currently has a 1973 US government ribbon installed that I found thrifting. Still prints dark as night, and better than modern ribbons! -Edit 5-24-24- Updated this machines photos with some taken on Ilford FP4 B&W film using my Nikon FA 35mm camera. What better to photograph an analog artifact like typewriters, using suitably analog film?

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Tower Commander on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Tower Serial Number page and the Tower Commander By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
