1956 Royal Quiet De Luxe Serial # AT3319818 1956 Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter, Serial # AT3319818 Erik Bruchez's 1956 Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter. 2024-03-23 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Erik Bruchez: 1956 Royal Quiet De Luxe Serial # AT3319818 When I acquired this machine, it was missing 3 keys, had a broken right-hand platen knob, and had a lot of corrosion. It came without a case. Luckily, it was fairly cheap, which is why I got it - that, and the fact that the turquoise (or teal?) color was stunning!

I have now cleaned the machine, removed rust, obtained replacement keys, and glued back (although clumsily) the right-hand platen knob. The machine works quite well now. It'd still be nice to do the following:

- touch up a few spots with matching paint
- find a pristine right-hand platen knob
- find a case

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1880s to the 1980s. As of 2024, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, a few standard electrics, and some unusual machines like Varitypers, uncommon IBM machines, and more. I am not a pro restorer, but I have restored a few of my machines beyond simple cleaning.
