1955 Smith Corona Super Serial # 5T312368 1955 Smith Corona Super typewriter, Serial # 5T312368 Kristian Tuerke's 1955 Smith Corona Super typewriter. 2024-07-31 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Kristian Tuerke: 1955 Smith Corona Super Serial # 5T312368 Sometimes we have to treat ourselves. On April 3rd, 2022, I did just that. I found this 1955 Smith Corona Series 5 Super listed by another Toronto area collector named Brian and visited his very nice home in the Beaches to pick it up. I have done little to no work on this rare and immaculate machine. The type basket needed some degreaser, polishing, and light lubrication. The body is pristine. Important to mention, this grey-on-grey colour scheme was only available in the Canadian market. This machine has a sapphire grey body with light grey striping and keys, and off-white platen knobs, tabulator, and badging. This machine is my go-to for small typing needs such as cards, letters, and speeches. A favourite among my collection!

Side note: If you check out hunter (giffer) James Gifford's gallery, you will find the same model, and coincidentally, his has the serial number 5T312369. My serial number is 5T312368, which means our machines came off the assembly line side-by-side all those years ago! Amazing to see they have been reunited thanks to this amazing platform.

I am a history and special-education teacher from Toronto and a lover of typewriters from the teens through to the fifties! I am a firm believer that the typewriter still has a place in our modern world.

I enjoy hunting around local antique markets and buying from private sellers. If I can find an original owner machine, I tend to pick it up! My goal here is to document the machines I have in my private collection. Any supplementary information on the machines are also included, such as original owners, places, dates, and any history the seller willingly provided.

In the context of my life, they provide a hobby for me to work on, a tool to write with, and a passion to share with others. In my professional capacity, typewriters offer students of history a tangible glimpse into the past and a great way to foster curiosity-based learning and education! For my special education students, typewriters offer a sensory tool that modern electronic tools cannot match. Thank you for sparing a moment to get to know me and I hope you enjoy my gallery!
