1954 Remington Quiet-Riter Serial # QR271274 1954 Remington Quiet-Riter typewriter, Serial # QR271274 Liz Glenn's 1954 Remington Quiet-Riter typewriter. 2023-06-22 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Liz Glenn: 1954 Remington Quiet-Riter Serial # QR271274 "Remi the Duck"

I acquired this in May 2021 from Glen Crookston & Dromgooles. It was custom painted by Everett "Everetto" Henderson of Austin Typewriter Ink in 2018 and is No.3 in his "Inked Machine" series where he custom painted different machines. He kept it for awhile before deciding to part with it. I believe this was auctioned off on eBay a few years ago before I got my paws on.

This has a heavier touch than my other Remington (Scissortail) but is still a joyful experience to type on. It is a workhorse. I can install/use a bi-chrome ribbon but I prefer using a solid-color ribbon instead. Originally, I stayed away from Remington machines due to their weird ribbon system but I've grown to like, or shall I say, accept them. This made me fall in love with Remingtons.

Just a "Typewriter Nut". I like collecting technologies from the past such as typewriters especially the ones with special/rare typefaces. There's just something about learning how things were made (& worked) back in the day!

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Quiet-Riter on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Quiet-Riter By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
