Description:
This Optima was produced in East-Germany, behind the Iron Curtain during the cold war.
Strange that this typewriter has a USA QWERTY , it's the only Optima Elite with this layout registered here.
There is also not a single trace of any decals on this machine, nothing that even shows that they were on there.
Update, New typeface specimen and changed the registration of this Elite to Elite 2 since this seems to be the second model.
The different Elite/2/3 galleries are a bit confusing, I think that there are a few typewriters not registered properly.

Hello,
Typerwriterfan from the Netherlands, recently bought a few typewriters again and started cleaning and adjusting them.
I haven't touched a typewriter in a long time, but it's fun working with them again.
This is a great database and I will try to contribute too.
Have a nice day,
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Optima Elite 2 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Optima Serial Number page and the Optima Elite 2 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
