DESCRIZIONE IN ITALIANO IN BASSO
This first-series beige Lettera 22, identical to the other mine (#115793), even for the “Imperial Elite” typeface, is the only typewriter from my collection that doesn’t come from thrift stores, flea markets, attics or cellars. Its noble origins can be noticed for the perfect conditions of the paint and the perfectly working mechanics: in fact, you can understand that I’ve bought it from Carlo Torchio shop in Turin. He’s one of the few repairmen in Italy and an active and experienced historical researcher about Olivetti. I only did a small improvement to his machine: I replaced the plastic ribbon spools with two metal ones which I found with another typewriter, I don’t remember which. They work better on the Lettera 22 because they’re slightly smaller. And that’s it. Not much else to say about this typewriter. Only that it doesn’t have a case and writes in an excellent way.

Questa Lettera 22 beige prima serie, identica all’altra mia (#115793), anche nel carattere “Imperial Elite”, è l’unica macchina della mia collezione che non provenga da mercatini, rigattieri, soffitte o cantine. Le sue nobili origini sono tradite dalla vernice perfetta e dalla funzionalità eccellente della meccanica: di fatto, si capisce che l’ho comprata da Carlo Torchio a Torino. È uno dei pochi riparatori in Italia e un ricercatore attivo e con molta esperienza riguardo all’Olivetti. Mi sono permesso solo un piccolo miglioramento sulla sua macchina: ho sostituito le bobine nastro in plastica con due in metallo che ho trovato con un’altra, non mi ricordo quale. Funzionano meglio sulla Lettera 22 perché sono leggermente più piccole. Nient’altro da dire su questa macchina. Solo che non ha una custodia e che scrive benissimo.
