1950 Royal KMG Serial # 4352040 1950 Royal KMG typewriter, Serial # 4352040 Brian Decker's 1950 Royal KMG typewriter. 2025-11-16 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Brian Decker: 1950 Royal KMG Serial # 4352040 This Royal KMG was a U. S. Navy asset at one time, and still bears the brass asset tag plate. It has Elite typeface. I acquired it on eBay on April 6, 2007. The bid price was $19.99 and, with shipping, the total cost to me was $46.74. I had the platen and feed-rollers re-surfaced by Ames Supply Co. in December of 2007. I purchased a new set of factory-correct feet from Tony Casillo's business, TTS Business Products, in February of 2025, about a month before he closed the business. I had a general cleaning and lubrication service performed by New England Typewriter, Merrimack, NH, in July of 2025.

My interest in typewriters started in 1997, when I was in graduate school at the University of Georgia. I purchased and read Darryl Rehr's book, joined ETC, and started reaching out to known collectors. I had several email interchanges with Richard Polt dating from that period. I also bought some of my first machines from Bob Aubert, and visited him at his home twice. After marriage and relocation to New England, I continued visiting antique shops and eBay, until other priorities put my typewriter hobby on hiatus around 2008. I still have my collection of around 54 machines, and now I have a renewed interest in getting some of them in good working and cosmetic order.
