Description:
Hi, Mark! Here's another one. Local thrift shop find. Very clean and working well. Two-tone gray. The main pic is the best one for color. It's a good thing the ribbon in it is good, because this uses those notorious Remington spools. Notice the different typebar cutout compared with http://typewriterdatabase.com/1949-remington-rand-allnew.1654.typewriter
The typing feel is OK but it doesn't tolerate fast typing---the typebars clash. Maybe with use they'll loosen up and fall back quicker.

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington All-New on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington All-New By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
