Description:
Bought on Marketplace. Poor guy is a bit banged up, but functions well despite the look. Needs a deep clean and I'm probably going to look into fully repainting or at least touching up this one. "Standard wear" is one thing, clear damage is another. I think it needs a little love and attention.
Universal Elite #468, 12 pitch typeface.
Rehomed June 12, 2024 to my best friend.
Prior to rehoming, the carriage return lever was repaired using J-B Weld original formula, methodology decided on via meeting of the minds with my dad. We mixed a tiny dab of metal epoxy, carefully placed it in the too-large stopper slot, and waited about 3 hours when it became rather tacky but doing well enough to hold shape. At this point we decided to flip the handle into place and apply the lightest bit of pressure to mold the still-pliable epoxy to the appropriate shape, then flipped it back up to continue setting. Worked a charm. Put through a few pages of testing with success, and my friend will keep me posted on any longevity issues.
I did not get the ribbon cover repainted, so it's still pretty gouged. Paint matching is a consideration for the future.

I am quite new to the typewriter world (first bought 6/2023), but I sort of jumped right in with three typewriters in my first week. I am interested in the mechanics of manual typewriters, as well as have an affinity for cleaning up long-forgotten gems. I'm a Smith-Corona fiend, but any nice typewriter will do!
