194X Remington Noiseless 10 Serial # CX 65346 194X Remington Noiseless 10 typewriter, Serial # CX 65346 Kevin Stallaert's 194X Remington Noiseless 10 typewriter. 2021-09-05 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Kevin Stallaert: 194X Remington Noiseless 10 Serial # CX 65346 I found this typewriter on a Dutch ad site. The owner requested that people would bid on it. It was way too far from me, but I thought "If I can't enjoy it, I can make sure someone else enjoys it.". I sent the seller some background info, the information of this model found on the website of Mr. Polt and some explanation on why this was called a noiseless and how the typing mechanism differed from a regular typewriter.

The seller replied that it had been her grandfathers machine. When he died, this Canadian machine went with her nephew to Italy. When he returned to the Netherlands he gave it to her. And now she was going to move to a small apartment and didn't have any room for it. She had a friend she saw often. that friend had kids who lived quite close to me. If I was OK with picking it up there, she would give it to me for free. It was an offer I gladly accepted. I asked her again if she was sure she didn't want anything for it, but the only thing she wanted was that it went to someone who appreciated typewriters. I did type her a nice thank you note on one of my other machines.

Canada, Netherlands, Italy, Netherlands again and now Belgium. This machine has seen quite a bit of the world. Especially for a standard model!

I fell into the typewriter rabbit hole due to nostalgia: I used to have a massive Olympia SG1 when I was a kid. It formed my typing habits, which is why I am called a "furious typer" by my coworkers. Came across the r/typewriters page on Reddit which rekindled my love for these wonderful machines. Lets just hope I don't start pushing screens off my desk when I reach the end of a line...

I also have a modest Youtube channel where I document the progress of my typewriter journey: https://www.youtube.com/@Slug_Life

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Noiseless 10 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Noiseless 10 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
