Description:
Torpedo 18 bought from German Ebay.
Great looking machine, with good typing action.
What I particularly like about this machine are the glass keys (with beautiful icons) and the full chrome details. I find myself looking often at the reflection of the typebars on the chrome. Stunning!
Before it is finished, I still have to fix the following:
- I am missing one platen knob on the right hand side. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to use to replace it. Perhaps just a simple make-shift knob, or I might find an actual replacement.
- the platen is rock-hard (this is the hardest platen I've seen yet!) that makes it loud to type on, and the typebars are puncturing the paper. With a backing sheet, it kind of works, but I suppose that with a fresh platen, it'll work like new
Sold - no longer in my collection

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Torpedo 18 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Torpedo Serial Number page and the Torpedo 18 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
