Description:
Great looks and a fine typer, keyboard action is short and crisp, reminiscent of a well-tuned Royal Model "O" Touch Control. Looks are similar too. These typewriters are pretty uncommon in my neck of the woods.
Purchased from a local seller who said her grandmother was the original owner. Seller's grandparents escaped from Austria during the war and emigrated to South America. Given the Spanish QWERTY keyboard and 1948 serial number, the machine was probably purchased locally in South America after the war.

Collecting typewriters off and on for 25 years, more "on" the last couple years. Meshes well with my other collecting hobby, fountain pens. Typewriters seem to find me, I don't have to look for them. First there are a couple, then 10, then 20, then 50...its getting out of hand.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Torpedo 18 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Torpedo Serial Number page and the Torpedo 18 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
