Description:
I got this 1948 "tuxedo" QDL from a fellow typewriter collector in Ontario, NY in May of 2023. The case was definitely a draw, with the original owner's provenance, Cunard/Queen Mary and Sitmar Cruise Line stickers from Genoa, and a Pennsylvania RR tag from New York City. The downside was the shell of the typewriter itself was the grimiest thing I'd ever seen. I forgot to take some true "before" pics, but even after multiple rounds of cleaning--especially the ribbon-spool cover--you could still scrape the tar-grime off with your fingernails. And it was everywhere. The internal mechanics, however, seemed untouched by it. This machine definitely had quite a life before finding its way to me.
