1948 Remington KMC Serial # J1353824 1948 Remington KMC typewriter, Serial # J1353824 David Richman's 1948 Remington KMC typewriter. 2025-11-27 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of David Richman: 1948 Remington KMC Serial # J1353824 This is a Remington KMC is I'm assuming the direct competitor to the Royal KMM because the magic margins and the keyboard margin controls are virtually the same. The only difference is location.
This machine was a huge pain to get into its present condition. It doesn't work, the ink does not advance that entire system is rusted. The carriage does not move on its own because the mainspring keeps getting stuck by a small rusted out pinion gear. This machine is mess and I don't know how to fix it at all. All the WD-40 in the world couldn't even put it dent into this thing. I'll have to find something else to get the thing to work. in the meantime though It looks pretty good.
One final thing to say about this machine. I absolutely love how easy it is to do maintenance on it, Just about every panel comes off with ease I only had unscrew like four screws and I was able to take the platen, the paper table, the ink cover, the entire rear panel the margin cover, everything just came of by pulling on it.
