Description:
Picked up at a yard sale. The keys will clean up OK. Functions pretty well.
Apparently if a designer doesnât provide a ribbon color changing mechanism, he can just charge right through the middle of the ribbon. Of course, that does preclude flipping the ribbon over to double its life... And if you inadvertently buy a two-color ribbon....

While I find all of mankind's inventions interesting, I am most enchanted by the human-scale arts and devices, the ones that can be created (and repaired) in a home workshop or studio; the ones that can be understood by looking at them; the ones that do something useful or stir admiration. Typewriters work for me.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood Leader on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood Leader By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
